Directors’ Report

Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, trading as Teac Damsa, is a company Limited by Guarantee.

We confirm that our organisation complies with the Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland.

Teac Damsa is currently reviewing the Principles of Good Fundraising and the necessary steps for compliance, with a view to completion by December 2016.

Catherine Dolan is Director of Thomson Reuters Ireland Ltd which is a legal publishing company that provides legal solutions to the legal profession.

Eithne Hand

Eithne Hand is an award-winning radio producer and writer. She worked in RTÉ Radio for many years setting up the Today show and Rattlebag arts show. Her radio documentary, Voicejazz, won a Prix Italia for Best Work on Music. She was Head of RTÉ Radio 1 from 2003-2006. Since leaving RTÉ  she has written and produced four radio plays for RTÉ Radio and was the launch producer for RTE Jr Radio.  She is the curator of the First Thought talks strand of the Galway International Arts Festival and as an independent producer she works with Gay Byrne on his Sunday Jazz program on RTÉ Lyric FM. She is currently producing The Man In The Woman’s Shoes  - a one man theatre show written and performed by Mikel Murfi.  In Jan 2016 she was the audio producer on Dublin Rising – an interactive Google App narrated by Colin Farrell. Eithne was a board member of The Hawk's Well Theatre in Sligo from 2008 - 2014.

Michael Keegan Dolan

Michael Keegan-Dolan established Teac Damsa in 2016.

Between 1997 and 2014 he was Artistic Director of Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, a company which he founded Over 17 years, Fabulous Beast generated some of the most innovative and successful work by any dance or theatre company in Ireland with iconic productions such as The Flowerbed (2000), Giselle (2003), The Bull (2005), James Son of James (2007), The Rite of Spring (2009, a co-production with English National Opera), Rian (2011) and The Stravinsky Double Bill Rite and Spring/Petrushka (2013). The company was the winner of the Judges’ Special Award at the Irish Times Theatre Award (2003), the UK Critics’ Circle Award (2008), a Bessie Award (2013) and three Olivier Award nominations (2006, 2008 and 2010) all for best new production.

Manchán Magan

Manchán Magan is a playwright, novelist, travel writer and journalist who wrote the Magan’s World column for The Irish Times for 6 years, and has written for The Guardian, the LA Times and Washington Post. He has received commissions to write plays from The Abbey Theatre, BBCband Project Art Centre. His bilingual plays have been nominated for numerous awards, including 2 Irish Times Theatre Awards, Fishamble New Writing Award and Bewleys Café Theatre Award. He won the Walter Macken Taibhdhearc Drama award in 2014, and the Stewart Parker Irish Language Theatre Award in 2009. In 2013 he won the Screen Directors Guild’s Outstanding Achievement Award for the 70 television documentaries he has presented, written and produced on issues of world culture for TG4, RTÉ, History Channel & Travel Channel, and 16 radio programmes for RTÉ 1.
